Die These
“The only possible conclusion is that it’s designed to cause panic. […] ‘The AI Apocalypse?’ has provided a yearslong news cycle and an infinite spawner of contrived Discourse, which has primarily served to contextualize the AI industry’s valuation around not reality but hypothetical future value.”
Technische Realität vs. Marketing
Hotz kontrastiert zwei Blog-Post-Stile:
GLM-5.2 (comma.ai-ähnlich)
Technisch, sachlich, beschreibt schrittweise Verbesserungen. Ein “pleasant technical look into how things are slowly improving.”
Anthropic Blog
“AI is advancing at exponential speed, and the policymaking process was built for a slower world.”
Hotz: Es ist “not about technology. It’s a questionable promise of future technology.”
Kritik an der Bay Area-Kultur
Hotz beschreibt Berkeley als “cult of atheistic hedonists who need AI doom to be true to justify their life choices.” San Francisco wird als Ort beschrieben, der “every interaction” mediatisieren will – im Gegensatz zu New York (Geld) oder LA (Aufmerksamkeit).
Kontext
Die Kritik erfolgt vor dem Hintergrund von:
- Anthropic’s Identity Verification (neu eingeführt)
- Steigenden Bewertungen der AI-Unternehmen
- Regulatorischem Druck (EU AI Act, US Policy)
Bedeutung
